Directors

David Charron, MBA, Senior Fellow, Lester Center for Entrepreneurship, UC Berkeley

David Charron is an entrepreneur, educator, investor and consultant in the Silicon Valley. He is currently Senior Fellow at the Lester Center, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation program of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He has also a former Executive Director of the Lester Center. At Haas he is a member of the professional faculty for the MBA program and also teaches in the Center for Executive Education. He consults to technology ventures on strategy, corporations on corporate entrepreneurship and innovation, and to institutions and governments on creation of entrepreneurial ecosystems. Mr. Charron has over twenty years of experience in the field of technology commercialization and entrepreneurship across academic, corporate and government entities, most notably at Xerox PARC, MIT and Stanford University. He graduated from Stanford University and has an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

Douglas Crawford, PhD, Associate Director, QB3

QB3 associate director Douglas Crawford created and manages the QB3 Garage/Innovation Network, which has helped launch 44 companies. He is a founder and the managing director of Mission Bay Capital. Crawford acts as a Knowledge Broker between the QB3 campuses and the bio-pharmaceutical industry. He is also a board member of Pacific BioPharma (observer), BayBio Institute, and BioE2E; and chair of the UCSF Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute Virtual Home program. Crawford received his PhD in biochemistry at UCSF.

Bruce Jenett, Partner, Co-Chair, Global Life Sciences Sector, DLA Piper LLP (US)

Mr. Jenett’s practice is focused on the representation of U.S. and international business and finance clients in the life sciences industry. He is highly experienced in equity and debt financing, licensing and distribution, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions, as well as general counseling issues, representing both start-ups and large multinational corporations. Mr. Jenett is a frequent speaker on corporate and finance issues to both business and attorney audiences. He is a member of the Board of Directors of BayBio, and has been a member of, and was Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee of, former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom’s Biotech Advisory Council. “Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business,” by the respected research publisher Chambers & Partners, consistently names Mr. Jenett one of the leading life sciences lawyers in the United States. The “PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook” 2009 cites him as “highly recommended” in the area of life sciences, and he is cited as a recommended practitioner in the” PLC Cross-border Life Sciences Handbook” for 2009/10/11. He is listed as a leading biotechnology industry lawyer in ‘The Best Lawyers In America” for 2007, 2008 and 2009 in biotechnology law, is on the Law & Politics “Super Lawyers” list for Northern California for corporate and securities law for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, is listed in “The International Who’s Who of Life Sciences Lawyers” 2008, in the 2011 “Who’s Who Legal—The International Who’s Who of Life Sciences Lawyers,” in the San Francisco Business Times 2009 “Best Lawyers in The Bay Area” and “Best Biotechnology Lawyers,” and in the 2010 San Francisco Chronicle “San Francisco’s Best Lawyers” in the biotechnology category.

Samantha Miller, MBA, Chief Business Officer, SVP Corporate Development, Dance Pharmaceuticals

Samantha Miller has ~20 years of biotechnology and pharmaceutical business development experience, negotiating, executing and managing numerous global partnerships, as well as regional partnerships in the US, EU, Japan, China and elsewhere. She has been involved in executing over 30 partnerships and licenses, with companies such as GSK, Lilly, J&J, AZ, Astellas, Asahi Kasei, Transgene, Lee’s, and others. Ms. Miller has held senior positions in business development, in various companies including Jennerex, Theravance, Inhale/Nektar, Scios, Onyx, and Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals. Ms. Miller holds a BS in Biochemistry from UCSD, and she holds Masters degrees in both Immunology and in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Rochester.
