This opening is for a position in the Arkin and Keasling groups in the departments of Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering at the Berkeley Center for Synthetic Biology. The project - lead by collaborators Adam Arkin, Jay Keasling, and Denise Wolf - focuses on Bacillus subtilis stress responses.
The groups are currently studying stress response at the single cell level. This project requires engineering and culturing of fluorescently labeled strains and analysis of stress induced responses by bulk fluorescence analysis, microscopy, flow-cytometry and RNA extraction/Northern/microarrays.

UCSF QB3 Fellow in Systems Biology

UCSF seeks exceptional individuals to carry out an independent and creative research program in quantitative approaches to understand complex biological systems. The focus of the positions is primarily on computational and theoretical models. Nonetheless, Fellows will have the opportunity to work in wet labs through collaboration. UCSF provides an interdisciplinary and highly interactive collegial environment. Appointments are for three years, with generous salary and research support.
