Award Overview

The Deloitte QB3 Award for Innovation will recognize a “scientific innovator” in the area of human health.

  • $10,000, unrestricted award to a graduate student, postdoc, staff researcher, or team.
  • Nominations by QB3 faculty in June with award presentation in early November 2011.
  • Required information:
    • Name(s) of candidate(s) (first, last)
    • Short description (3-5 sentences) of why you think this individual or team is creating an advance that has the capacity to improve human health

Award Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Award for Innovation is to recognize “scientific innovators” in the area of human health with prize money.

  • Recognize a graduate student, postdoc, staff researcher, or team
  • Heighten sensitivity of the community to QB3 science
  • Encourage the community to learn more about the diversity of science within QB3 and to think hard about the relative merits of different research strategies

Eligibility Requirements

  • “Advancement in the area of human health” needs to be a recent publication, current or recent research—innovation within last 3 years
  • Nominees must have conducted relevant research at UCB/UCSC/UCSF as a grad student, postdoc, or staff researcher at one of those campuses
  • Material submitted must be non-confidential. Research must be accepted for publication or published.
  • Nominees can be:
    • Graduate students
    • Postdocs
    • Staff researchers
    • Teams comprised of the above
