The facility

Doug Crawford and Chris Barlow explain how a Twinkie bakery in Berkeley became the next incubator in the QB3 network. More videos on the QB3 YouTube channel.

The QB3-EBIC “Bakery” incubator provides 9,300 square feet of top-quality wet-laboratories, support functions, private offices, lunch/break area, and conference rooms specifically designed to meet the needs of start-up technology companies. The facility contains a number of major items of research equipment that are available for use by tenants, including fume hoods, bio-safety cabinets, incubators, freezers, ultra low temperature freezers, an ice machine, and an autoclave. The central location in the East Bay technology corridor, less than 15 minutes away from the UC Berkeley and LBNL campuses, provides access to the world class scientific communities at these major research institutions and at local and international companies such as Novartis, Bayer HealthCare, Amyris, XOMA, and Dynavax.
